Turn a meaningful venue photo into a personalized acrylic magnet. Explore six design steps, a real product example, and a simple brief you can copy for your order.

A favorite place can become part of everyday life long after a wedding ends. Custom acrylic fridge magnets turn a venue photograph into a small illustrated keepsake, with room for a meaningful date, a few personal words, or simply the building itself.

The design works best when the illustration, outline, and lettering are considered together. Here is how to take a photograph from your camera roll to a personalized wedding favor, using one of our venue magnet designs to show the details worth thinking about.

What makes an acrylic wedding magnet feel personal?

A recognizable detail often matters more than a complicated design. It might be the curve of the entrance, the trees beside the ceremony space, or the path guests walked along when they arrived.

In the magnet pictured above, the pale building sits behind a central garden path. Soft greens frame the architecture, while the shaped border gives the illustration its own outline. The location and date sit beneath the scene, leaving the building as the main subject.

This is a useful starting point for wedding venue magnets: choose the feature you want people to recognize first, then let the rest of the design support it.

The custom acrylic magnet design process: 6 steps

The process moves from your reference photo to an illustration, a considered layout, and a digital proof. Production begins after you approve the design.

Six design steps: choose a photo, set the art style, plan the shape, add wording, approve the proof, then make and pack.
From photo to favor: settle the artwork and wording before approving the design for production.

1. Choose one clear reference photograph

Start with a bright image that shows the main subject clearly. For a venue, try to include the full building and any garden, doorway, or roofline you want in the illustration. Tell us which photograph should guide the overall composition if you send several views.

Also point out anything you would like changed, such as a parked car in front of the entrance. For help comparing images, use our wedding venue photo guide.

2. Choose an illustration style and color direction

Think about the mood of your wedding stationery. Soft, watercolor-style artwork can suit a garden setting; a line-art approach can emphasize architecture with fewer visual elements. Share a product example you like and explain which parts appeal to you.

For the garden design shown here, the greenery and pale facade give the scene a gentle feel. A short brief such as “keep the building recognizable and use soft greens” gives the artist a clearer direction than a long list of unrelated references.

3. Plan the acrylic shape and composition

The shape determines how much room the scene has. A square or rectangular layout can retain more background, while a custom outline can follow the overall silhouette of the artwork. Check the options on your chosen listing before deciding.

Small architectural details may need simplifying at magnet size. Prioritize the entrance, roofline, and other defining features rather than trying to preserve every window or leaf. Our hand-drawn venue acrylic magnets offer a custom shape and a choice of 3mm or 5mm thickness.

4. Add wording and coordinate the backing card

Keep the magnet wording short enough to read comfortably. Names and a date may be all you need. You can also choose no text and let the illustration stand on its own.

Use the backing card for a longer thank-you message. A simple example is:

On the magnet: “Emma & James · June 12, 2027”
On the card: “Thank you for being part of our day.”

For save-the-date magnets, make the names and date easy to find. Writing the month as a word helps avoid confusion between different date formats. Our save-the-date wording examples can help you choose a layout.

5. Review and approve your digital proof

A digital proof is included with physical magnet orders, and our usual proof turnaround is within 3 business days. Review the design as a whole, then check the details:

  • Are all names, dates, and place names correct?
  • Are the building's most meaningful features easy to recognize?
  • Does the text have enough space around it?
  • Do the magnet and backing card feel like a matching set?

You may request revisions or cancel for a full refund before approving the proof. Once you approve it, production begins and the order can no longer be changed or cancelled. Screen and printed colors can vary slightly; see our personalization and proof process for the current details.

6. Make, pack, and prepare the favors for your guests

After approval, the design moves into production and the finished magnets are prepared with their coordinated backing cards. Production usually takes 5–7 business days, followed by an estimated 7–14 business days in transit. Proof revisions and your approval time are additional, so leave room in your schedule.

For a wedding, plan how guests will receive them: at each place setting, on a favor table, or inside a welcome bag. Use our personalized favor timeline to work backward from the date you need the order in hand.

A short design brief you can copy

You do not need a finished design file to get started. Send your photo with a few clear preferences:

“Please use the front view of our venue as the main reference. We like soft greens and a watercolor-style illustration. Keep the garden path and entrance visible. Add our names and wedding date beneath the building, with a simple thank-you message on a cream backing card. Please suggest an outline that suits the artwork.”

Include your event date, needed delivery date, and quantity too. This helps us understand both the design and the practical needs of your order.

Questions about personalized acrylic fridge magnets

Can I use a photo of a home or storefront?

Yes. A meaningful building can be a wedding venue, family home, or shop. Start with a clear reference photo and tell us which features should remain in the illustration.

Can the magnet be made without names or a date?

Yes. Choose the no-text option if you prefer an illustration-only magnet. You can use the backing card for a message instead.

Does every detail from the photo appear in the artwork?

Not necessarily. Small details may be simplified to suit the illustration style and finished size. Flag the features that matter most, then check them in your proof before approval.
